+ The first four digits of your phone number, 8816, is an international country assigned to satellite phones. A caller may place an international call to country 8816 followed by your eight digit phone number. However, many long distance carriers charge a very high per minute rate for calls to country code 8816, so check with your long distance carrier before giving out this phone number. We've heard of rates as much as $15/minute. Cell phone users may also have difficulty calling the international number if their cell service is not provisioned for international service. International long distance charges are paid by the caller when they dial your international number directly, and the call is free to the Iridium user.
